2017 Hajj applications begin

The long awaited applications for the 2017 year Hajj has started.

According to an announcement by the Religious Affairs (Diyanet) Hajj and Umrah Directorate General the citizens who will be applying to go to Hajj for the first time will be required to deposit 20 liras as a pre-registration fee to banks (Al Baraka Türk, Halkbank, Kuveyt Türk, Ptt Bank, Vakıf Bank, Vakıf Katılım, Ziraat Bankası and Ziraat Katılım). The preregistration formalities will be held between December 28, 2016 and January 6, 2017.

Citizens will be able to apply through the internet (http://hac.diyanet.gov.tr) or to the offices of the muftis in their neighborhoods and opt for “Hajj accommodation with room preference” or “hotel accommodation.”

Citizens who win the right to go to Hajj after lot picking will be able to register when they receive an SMS message code on their mobile phones.

No automatic reregistration by Diyanet

Citizens who have registered in previous years will be required to renew their registrations between January 9 and 31 2017. The Office of the President of Diyanet will not automatically renew the registrations. Citizens who have applied to go to Hajj in previous years will not be required to pay any new fees.

Those who do not renew their applications will not be included in the 2017 lot drawing

This year the preferences of “normal and single room preferences” have been abandoned and for 2017 prospective Hadjis will be required only to opt for “room preference for accommodation.” The former applicants will be asked to apply through the internet (http://hac.diyanet.gov.tr) or to the offices of the muftis in their neighborhoods and opt for “Hajj accommodation with room preference” or “hotel accommodation.” Those who do not renew their applications will not participate in the lot drawing.

Citizens required to renew their communication information

Citizens will be required to renew their communications information on the internet (http://hac.diyanet.gov.tr) or by applying to the mufti offices. Citizens who win the right to go to Hajj after lot picking will be able to register when they receive an SMS message code on their mobile phones.

Citizens whose names were not picked in the 2016 lot drawing will be required to renew their applications, make their accommodation preferences and name partners with whom they want to go to Hajj between January 9 and 31, 2017.
