Presidents of Hajj Affairs Offices of Islamic Countries got together in Mecca at a meeting hosted by the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet). The main topic of the meeting was the massacre committed against Muslims in Arakan.
Presidents of Hajj Affairs Offices of Islamic Countries issued a joint declaration on crimes against Muslims in Myanmar after the meeting which was also participated by Council of Solidary with Arakan People Chairman Selimullah Abdurrahman.
Speaking during the meeting participated by the Presidents of more than Hajj Affairs Offices of Islamic Countries, Acting President of Diyanet Dr. Ekrem Keleş said, “Recent incidents in Arakan do not comply with humanity. It is not possible to accept or remain silent about these crimes. Our brothers living there became the subject of cruelty, torture and isolation just because they accept Allah as their only Lord. We do have an important responsibility. It is our duty to cure this wound, end this bloodshed and relieve this pain. Any person with a conscience would not remain silent about these incidents.”
Noting that Muslims today are experiencing joy and sadness at the same time, Acting President of Diyanet Keleş said that he wished the Eid al-Adha and Hajj season would bring blessings for all Muslims but he was also sorry for the troubles experienced in the Islamic world.
Acting President of Diyanet Keleş underlined the following issues during his speech addressing Presidents of Hajj Affairs Offices of Islamic Countries;
“May Eid al-Adha be a blessing for all Islamic world…”
Today, we are experiencing a great joy and happiness. We are joyful; we are in the holy land which is the place of the first revelation, where our holy Prophet lived and declared and disseminated Islam. We are joyful; we have completed our Hajj duty. Today, we are happy to celebrate Eid al-Adha which celebrates the establishment of Ummah of Islam which was first revealed when Prophet Abraham constructed the Kaaba. I wish from Allah, the Most Gracious to accept your prayers and livestock we sacrificed. I would like to sincerely congratulate Eid al-Adha of all the Ummah of Islam and our distinguished guests.
“In recent years, Muslims experienced bloodshed and tears during religious holidays…”
I am sorry to say that despite our happiness, we are also sad, today. Our hearts are broken and our joy is overshadowed. Muslims are going through a very sad period. Some Islamic spots are all in ruins. Brothers are killing each other, we continue to shed blood. Ignorance, division and despair do not leave our sight. Recently, we are witnessing blood and tears during religious holidays. Unfortunately, we have been witnessing painful incidents that break our hearts, turn our celebrations into sadness and sweep away the joy of holiday during this Eid al-Adha, too. The state of the Ummah of Islam is deeply wounding our hearts and conscience.
“Incidents in Arakan are against humanity…”
Recent incidents in Arakan are against humanity. It is not possible to accept them or remain silent. . Our brothers living there became the subject of cruelty, torture and isolation just because they accept Allah as their only Lord. We do have an important responsibility. It is our duty to cure this wound, end this bloodshed and relieve this pain. Any person with a conscience would not remain silent about these incidents. I know all of you are deeply sorry about the recent incidents and doing your best to end this pain. We have to work harder and join forces in order to find a solution to this problem.
“If we fail to prevent these clashes and attacks as Muslims, enemies of Islam will continue to attack the Ummah from various different directions…”
If Muslims fail to close the ranks and prevent these clashes and attacks as Muslims, enemies of Islam will continue to attack the Ummah from various different directions. It should be known that, recent clashes taking place in some Islamic countries as well as bombing and killing in certain parts of the Islamic world are not only ruining Muslims living in these places. They also destroy Islamic awareness of our holy religion and Muslims all over the world are harmed, too. This situation causes Muslims who are living as minority in their homelands to face social isolation and marginalization. Muslims are facing the danger of living in fear, isolation and the threat of violence. Circles who want to fuel Islamophobia today are using these clashes and bitter scenes experienced in some parts of the Islamic World in order to carry out merciless smear campaign against Muslims and invoke an artificial fear about Islam. Even the perpetrators of crimes committed in Arakan are using this as an excuse for using pressure against tese oppressed people.
“There is no use of seeking the reasons of recent incidents in the historical roots of Islam religion and Islamic sects…”
The World is having a hard time in reading and determining the reasons for these recent incidents. Some are seeking the reasons of this state of madness in the historical roots of Islamic religion and Islamic sects. Nevertheless, these are happening due to religion and sects; there is no use of seeking the roots of this cruelty in the era of bliss, in the hadiths of holy Prophet Mohammed or in the sectorial oppositions experienced in the aftermath of death of Prophet Osman. It is not also correct to seek the roots of the problem in external reasons. Putting the blame on only other religions is not right, too. Similarity, the solution does not depend on accusing only the dissidents of Islam, external forces, imperialists and Zionists. We must examine and study the situation with a neutral approach, correctly determine the internal and external reasons and learn our mistakes in order to produce solutions. The blood which is shed is our blood; those who are killed are one of us. Ruined parts are our own regions. The solution should be our solution.
“If Allah permits, days when Ummah of Islam enjoys stability and moving on the right track are near…”
We, Muslims, have a deep-rooted civilization and historical experience. Today, we are passing a chaotic period like we did several times in the past. Troubles that emerged in this period are causing despair. This period is hard but will pass, with Allah’s permission. If Allah permits, days when the Ummah of Islam enjoys stability and moves on the right track are near. Hajj duty brings great hopes. This duty allows us to transform. It gives us excitement of revival. Eid al-Adha should also be considered as an opportunity to eliminate the distances. It is the time when we get closer to Allah and to each other. It brings comfort to stressed minds. Eid-al- Adha is a holiday of rapport. As the Ummah of Islam, we must establish rapport and support each other. With Allah’s permission, reason and wisdom shall prevail.
“Despite the negativities experienced in some parts of Islamic World, Hajj vaccinates hopes for a better future and a spirit of resurrection…”
It is up to us to keep this hope alive and get rid of this painful situation. Let’s say that intrigue is worse than war and join forces in order to eliminate it from the earth. Let us work in order to turn our location into a land of peace again. Let us work in an effort to establish peace. Let us come together to build a life based on peace. The Hajj duty is offering us a great opportunity in this sense. Hajj teaches us not to harm any living things. It teaches us not to harm even an insect, an ant or a mosquito. Ihram we wear teaches us to stay away from making any discrimination based on office, race or class. It teaches us racial discrimination is ignorance. Hajj teaches us to meet in the same direction and turn to kiblah. Hajj reminds a history that began with Prophet Abraham and gained continuality with holy Prophet Mohammed and this is the history we belong. Despite the negativities experienced in some parts of Islamic World, Hajj vaccinates hopes for a better future and a spirit of resurrection. Animals we sacrificed are the messengers of returning to all these values.
“Hajj duty should be associated with the stories of brotherhood not with deaths…”
We must teach our Haji candidates not to consider Hajj duty only as a prayer but also as an opportunity to reenact the resurrection spirit. Haji candidates should receive required trainings before Hajj duty and work in an effort to allow them to complete their Hajj duties in the best way possible. We must also offer all kinds of support to our brothers who hosted us in the holy land and work in an effort to pay our duty in the safest way possible. We must certainly prevent human mistakes that cause chaos and deaths of candidates during the Hajj duty. Hajj duty should be associated with the stories of brotherhood not with deaths. Hajj is the time for social unity and solidarity.
Arakan Muslims Representative Selimullah Abdurrahman…
Council of Solidary with Arakan People Chairman Selimullah Abdurrahman during his speech at the meeting organized for the Presidents of Hajj Affairs of Islamic countries said that 100 thousand Arakan people are forced to migrate to Bangladesh in the last two weeks as a result of pressure and massacres.
Chairman Abdurrahman underlined the fact that approximately 6 million Muslims living in Arakan have faced systematic “forced immigration and evacuation plan” aiming at changing the demographic structure of the region in 1980,1991, 2012 and today.
In the last 30 years, approximately 2 million Arakan people have left their homes and countries due to pressures and forced to immigrate to other countries, said Abdurrah and made the following statements;
Due to the negligence of international community, 100 thousand Arakan people have been forced to migrate to Bangladesh in the last two weeks as a result of pressure and massacres of the Myanmar administration. Like many other countries, I would like to thank Turkey on the behalf of Arakan people for their support. As the people of Arakan, I request our fellow countries to increase their support. People of Arakan are facing various kinds of cruelty and violence such as mass killings, burning down their villages and homes. As it is an isolated region, only a few of these incidents are heard in the World.
"The Myanmar administration takes strength from the divided and scattered state of Islamic World…"
While the Islamic World is dealing with the problems experienced in Syria, Yemen, Iraq and other countries, the Burma administration continues to massacre Arakan Muslims and continue to force them immigrate. Burma administration is taking strength from the divided and scattered state of the Islamic World.
“Future of people of the Arakan depends on the unity of the Ummah…”
Future of people of Arakan depends on the unity of Ummah. We ask from you to convey the Arakan people’s call for help to your governments and officials. But, the greatest help we need from you is to end rivalries and divisions among yourselves immediately and act in harmony and unity. This will help us most when you achieve this unity. The Myanmar administration has been committing massacres against us by using the advantage of this disunity.
The Declaration of the Presidents of Hajj Affairs Offices of Islamic Countries…
Joint declaration of Presidents of Hajj Affairs of Islamic Countries are as follows;
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds; blessings and salutations be to our Prophet Muhammad, his people of the house and his companions.
Coming from different countries around the world in order to observe the ritual of Hajj in this year of 2017 in Gregorian calendar and 1438 in Islamic calendar, and to obey Allah the Exalted, to accept the invitation of His Prophet Ibrahim and to follow the sunnah of our Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), we, as the presidents of the departments of Hajj affairs in Islamic countries, have observed the holy Eid Al-Adha this year in pain and sadness with the knowledge of the hard conditions the Burmese Muslims in Myanmar have endured since the mid-twentieth century; the violation of their human rights particularly in the areas of security of life and property, security of education and health, and freedom of religion; and the fact that they lack even the most basic rights that the whole mankind has.
In an age where we disapprove inhuman treatment, we are in period where our brothers and sisters in Myanmar are subjected to inhumane treatments like murder, deportation and torture; where their honor is violated, their homes and villages are burned to the ground and they are being harassed in the most offensive and atrocious ways. We regretfully observe that this suffering and cruelty take place in the presence of the countries which call for respect for civilization, democracy and human rights. Therefore, we call the governments of the world and their people to take responsibility and pressure the government of Myanmar into abandoning its excuse that only a handful of fanatic groups are massacring the Muslims, and putting a stop to these crimes and protecting its Muslim citizens.
Thus, we call all Muslims to reject and condemn these atrocious crimes that trample all the values of humanity, because as our Prophet said: “The Muslims are just like one body. When one of the limbs suffers, the whole body responds to it with wakefulness and fever (to cure it).” Also we strongly endorse this warning of our Prophet: “The one who does not care about the Muslims is not one of them. The one who does not advice the notable and common Muslims for Allah, His Messenger and His Book is not one of them.”
As it is known, a human has honor, pride and dignity simply because he or she is a human. In the eyes of Islam, a cruelty committed against one human is considered as a crime and sin committed against all humanity.
As featured frequently in the world media about the issue of human rights; the international community recognizes each person’s security of life and property, freedom of health, education, religion and conscience regardless of their religion, sect or gender. Therefore, we call the international community to show the maximum effort to end this inhuman crimes against the Muslims in Myanmar and to save them from the claws of cruelty and fanaticism.
