President of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) Prof. Dr. Mehmet Görmez visited the “Social Support and Training Center” which was opened in Ankara by the Turkish Diyanet Foundation Women, Family and Youth Center (TDV KAGEM) to provide Turkish language and vocational training for guests from Syria.
President of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Mehmet Görmez visited the center at the Ankara Altındağ Önder neighborhood with his spouse Dr. Hatice Görmez and received information about the center from KAGEM Director Hicret Toprak and other executives. Students presented pictures they had painted about Syria and Turkey and letters that they wrote in Turkish to President Görmez as a present. President of Diyanet Görmez who visited every single classroom in the center read out the Turkish letters of students Mazin Atlahan and Afrah Qali. Letters wrote, “We pray for Turkey and Presidency of Religious Affairs. May Allah bless you and speed you. We have the opportunity to complete our educations that was halted in Syria. Those who have lost their families had the opportunity to meet new beautiful families. The Turkish people have shown their hospitality. Each of you became a ray of hope for all of us.”
During his speech addressing students at the conference hall of the center, President of Diyanet Görmez stated, “I would like to say that I feel very fortunate to be with you today. I am very happy to see that children, young people and women are here with enthusiasm to learn Turkish.” President of Diyanet Görmez also said that, “I want to express my deepest gratitude to Turkish Diyanet Foundation and KAGEM for providing this opportunity to Syrians living in Ankara and guests who have come to Turkey from different places of the region.”
Here are some highlights of the speech of Prof. Dr. Görmez:
“You will be pioneering the reconstructions of a grand civilization in cooperation with your brothers and sisters in Turkey…”
All the sufferings you have been experiencing will end someday. Every single of you will return to your countries freely and together with your brothers and sisters in Turkey, you will be pioneering the reconstructions of grand civilizations in Syria and Iraq.
“You are not guests. This is your home, country and soil…”
Never consider Turkey as a place and country where you are just a guest. This is your home. This is your country. This soil is your soil. What we are doing is not a favor to you, it is favor for us. What we have done is your duty to our Muslim brothers both as a Muslim and a neighbor country. Do not forget your country in your hearts. Syria, Damascus, Aleppo, Humus… These are the important centers of civilization.
Noting that all the wickedness will end one day, President of Diyanet Görmez stated, “May Allah allow you to return to your homelands happily and freely. May Allah allow you to rebuild Damascus, Aleppo and Syria.”
At the end of the program, some Syrian students recited hadiths both in Arabic and Turkish.
