It has become necessary to make the following statement in view of the claims made by columnist Emre Uslu in his article in today’s daily Taraf newspaper:
“In the examinations held by the Office of the Head of Religious Affairs nationally or internationally no candidate has been subjected to questions in the nature claimed by the writer. In the exams held by the Office of the Head of Religious Affairs the questions are not designed to find out the political and cultural identity of the participants but the aim is to learn about the knowledge and experience of the candidates in the areas where they will be employed by the Religioıus Affairs of Turkey. The framework of our areas of interest are limited to faith, worship and morals.
We would like to respectfully inform the public that the claims in question are merely nothing but an effort to tarnish the reputation of the Office of the Head of Religious Affairs.
