Today, the information regarding the statements of the Presidency of Religious Affairs that girls can get married at a very young age, which appeared in certain media organs are false and do not represent the reality in any case.
Producing such a claim by distorting the definitions and articles in the Glossary of Religious Concepts published by our organization cannot be explained by good intentions.
Marrying girls at a young age before they have the responsibility to be a mother and establish a family, before reaching psychological and biological maturity, does not correspond with the religion of Islam which requires the freedom of choice and willpower in marriage.
As a matter of fact, our Presidency has never approved marriages at an early age throughout its history and will never approve it.
In the Final Declarations of high-level meetings such as Religious Assemblies and Provincial Mufti Seminars conducted by our foundation, it has been repeatedly noted that marrying girls at a very young age can never be supported through religious references.
The opinion of our High Board of Religious Affairs also is in this direction.
