After the month of Ramadan, which brought us mercy, baraqah, and peace and adorned our minds and hearts with forgiveness, purification and taqwa, we have entered the Eid al-Fitr, the time of peace, brotherhood, and friendship.
We know that eids are the days of unity, togetherness, sharing and solidarity, which bring us together with our nature, in which life turns into serenity and peace, and which strengthens our bonds of love and brotherhood. However, unfortunately, our eids, which are one of the most important manifestations of iman and Islamic brotherhood, cannot be comprehended as an eid today in our world surrounded by pain, sadness and tears. Hence, this eid must conduce to experiencing the same feeling and happiness with millions of our Muslim brothers and sisters whose language, race, colour, culture, country and geography are different but imans, hearts and duas are the same. Because eids become eids in true sense when they turn into happiness altogether. For this, we must increase the joy of the eid and carry it everywhere.
In this respect, first, let us visit our parents, family elders, relatives and neighbours during the eid and strengthen our heartfelt relations that we established with them. Let us commemorate with mercy and pray for the goodness of our relatives who passed away.
Let us try to be the eid of those who cannot celebrate eid, especially on these days. Let us make the fatherless and motherless children and the needy and lonely people who need love and compassion happy by supporting them. Let us carry the joy of the eid to the prisoners in the prisons, the patients in the hospitals and all the places we can reach. Let us end the resentments and offences between our brothers and sisters. Let us contribute to the permanent memories in their minds by bringing our children together with the excitement of the eid. Yet most importantly, let us maintain our stability on this issue by keeping in mind that Islam is a whole, which surrounds our thoughts, attitudes and actions, and by continuing our gains and the beauties, which we acquired in the month of Ramadan, in the times after Ramadan.
With these feelings and thoughts, I wish that the Eid al-Fitr is going to conduce to further strengthening of our Islamic consciousness and brotherhood and to the humanity’s being in the true path and having peace. May the Almighty Allah (swt) let us rejoin with more eids in the future in health and peace.
