The President of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş said “Now what we have to do is to work with a greater belief, ambition, excitement, and devotion in order to make the meanings of Hagia Sophia as a great mosque dominate in the world,” about re-opening of Hagia Sophia for worship.

The President of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş posted a message via his social media accounts after it is decided that Hagia Sophia is re-opened as a mosque and its administration is transferred to the Presidency of Religious Affairs.

Praising to Allah for allowing Hagia Sophia, which is the most important symbol of the conquest of İstanbul, to be rejoined with its original identity and brought together with Muslims, the President of Religious Affairs Erbaş expressed that Muslims’ 86 years of longing ended and with this good news the sadness in the heart of the nation has turned into great happiness.

“May Almighty Allah give consent to everyone who exerted effort for this purpose, our Esteemed President being in the first place. May Allah give them glad tidings of our Prophet Muhammad,” posted President of Religious Affairs Erbaş and added the following expressions to his post released via his social media accounts,

“Hagia Sophia, which is the most important symbol of the conquest of İstanbul, has rejoined with its original identity and brought together with Muslims.

Endless praises and thanks to Allah.

Muslims’ 86 years of longing ended and with this good news the sadness in the heart of the nation has turned into great happiness. 

May Almighty Allah give consent to everyone who exerted effort for this purpose, our Esteemed President being in the first place. May Allah give them glad tidings of our Prophet Muhammad.

Hagia Sophia is not only a place of worship in terms of its meaning. It is a symbol of great belief, civilization, morals, and justice for Muslims.
