Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş, the President of Religious Affairs, received the Republic of Maldives’ Minister of State for Islamic Affairs
Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş, the President of Religious Affairs, received Ilyas Jamaal, the Minister of State for Islamic Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, and the accompanying delegation.
Expressing his joy for the visit, Erbaş, the President of Religious Affairs, said that Maldives is an exclusive country for due to the fact that its population is 100% Muslim.
Uttering that they will cooperate with Maldives in the fields of religious education and religious service, the President Erbaş: “We provide educational support not only our youth and children in the country but also to students from abroad. In this context, we are ready to provide help for Maldives with respect to hafiz training, either by bringing students to Turkey, or sending hodjas there. We are always ready to share our experience on the matter with the people of Maldives.”
“We provide education to students from 111 countries at our schools”
Stating that they, Turkiye Diyanet Foundation and Presidency of Religious Affairs, provide education to students from 111 countries in Imam Khatib High schools and faculties of divinity in Turkey, the President Erbaş expressed that they can give the same support to students who will be sent from Maldives.
Jamaal, the Minister of State for Islamic Affairs
At the beginning of his speech, the Minister of State for Islamic Affairs of the Republic of Maldives Ilyas Jamaal stated that they brought greetings from the President of Maldives and said, “It is a great honor for me to be in a country like Turkey. All Muslims all over the world are proud of Turkey’s services to Islam.”
Reminding the fact that Maldives’ population has been Muslim for 900 years; the Minister Jamaal continued his words as follows:
“We have witnessed that Turkey gives great importance to Qur’an. We would like to cooperate with you on this matter. Turkey’s support is very important for us. May Allah the Almighty’s (swt) blessings be upon you.”
Erdal Atalay, Presidency of Religious Affairs General Director of Foreign Relations, was also present at the reception.
