President of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş, during the opening of the scout camp for religious officials and students in the International Theology Program (UIO) said, "We attach tremendous importance to scouting at the point of preserving the youth."
President of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş made the opening of scout camp organized by The Scouting Federation of Turkey and the Paris Religious Affairs Turkish-Islamic Union (DITIB) in Corbeil Essones, France, for religious officials and students in the International Theology Program (UIO).
President of Religious Affairs Erbaş said at the opening, “According to the rules of scouting, our teachers, friends, brothers, take care of our youth in the best way in terms of leading and guiding them. They learn the necessary infrastructure.”
President Erbaş stated that they attach great importance to scouting at the point of protecting the youth and said, “There are some ways we can preserve the moral stance and line of our youth, and we need to make those paths an occasion. Because there are so many reasons that tear them away from us, take them away from us, that it is necessary to distance those reasons from our youth. Consequently, this is a chance. Let's take advantage of this chance.”
President Erbaş stated that one of the duties of Muslims is enjoining good deeds and forbidding evil, and said that scouting is one of the best means for this.
"Scouting activities have evolved into a very different field under their leadership. In other words, when I consider the past, today’s understanding differs significantly from what it was then. This really makes us proud. It also shows that for us, this area is an important area of announcement and a suitable invitation area. As the Presidency of Religious Affairs, I think we will be under a great burden if we stay away from this area.”
The scouting camp will last 7 days and will be hosted in Paris for the first time.
Along with President Erbaş, Turkey's Paris Consul General Serdar Belentepe, Turkish Scouting Federation President Hasan Subaşı, President of Social and Cultural Religious Services Department of the Presidency of Religious Affairs İdris Yavuzyiğit, Paris Religious Services Counselor Bayram Demirtaş, religious officials and International Theology Program (UIO) students participated.
