Lütfi DOĞAN

Lütfi DOĞAN (15.01.1968 - 25.08.1972)

Lütfi Doğan was born in the village of Kelkit Salyazı in Gümüşhane in 1930.He learned how to read the Quran from his father Mehmet Fehmi Efendi. He also took lessons from his uncle Fevzi Efendi who was a hafiz. He completed his training to become a hafiz at a young age. He learned how to read and recite the Quran beautifully from Muhyiddin Efendi who was a hafiz from Samsun. He took private lessons from Abdurrahman Efendi and former mufti of Gümüşhane Mehmet Ragıp Efendi. He finished primary school without attending classes and just taking exams. In 1952, he started working as an imam and preacher in Gümüşhane. In 1954, he passed an exam and became the müfti of Kemah. In 1960, he was appointed the müfti of Erzincan. Meanwhile he finished secondary and high school by taking exams without attending classes. Then he gained admission intoAnkara University Faculty of Theology and was apponited deputy mufti of Ankara. He worked as a traveling preacher and preacher in Ankara.

After graduating from the Faculty of Theology, he was appointed an inspector at the Directorate of Religious Affairs. In 1965, he was elected a member of the High Board of Religious Affairs. After being the acting Vice President of the Religious Affairs for some time, he was appointed acting President of Religious Affairs on January 15, 1968 and remained in office until 25.08.1972. Then he was appointed advisor to the President of Religious Affairs and a preacher in Ankara. He was elected a senator for Erzurum in elections held on October 14 1973.he was a senatör until September 12 1980. He was a member of parliament for Gümüşhane between 1991 and 2002.

Some of his printed books are” Main Problems That Shake the Foundation of Society”, “Finding Happiness”, “Life and Works of Authors of the Six Books On Prophet Muhammad’s Sayings (Kütübü Sitte) ”.
