Prof. Dr. Ali BARDAKOĞLU (28.05.2003 - 11.11.2010)

Prof. Dr. Ali Bardakoğlu was born in Tosya district in Kastamonu in 1952.He graduated from İmam Hatip (Religious) High School in Istanbul in 1970, High Islamic Institute in Istanbul in 1974 and Istanbul University Faculty of Law in 1975. He was a teacher and apprentice judge for a while and in 1977, he became an assistant for Islamic law at the High Islamic Institute in Kayseri. In 1982, he earned his PhD in Islamic Law and taught as Assistant professor at Erciyes University Faculty of Theology.He became an associate professor in 1986. In 1993, he started teaching at Marmara University Faculty of Theology.

In 1994, he became a professor of Islamic Law.

Prof.Dr. Ali Bardakoğlu was appointed President of Religious Affairs on May 28 2003.

He speaks English and Arabic. He is married and has three children.

He retired on November 11 2010.
